Indoor Games

Now that LazyTown has given kids that get up and go... It's time to get up and go!

Video Games

Yes, video games can fit into a healthy lifestyle for older kids. The key is moderation, and with these healthy games you may want to give your kids a little extra time on the boobtube. Beware, these are not cheap options and if you don't already own a console, these probably aren't worth the investment. On the other hand... these are really fun for adults too.

  • Dance Dance Revolution - In this series, players stomp on colored arrows to a beat. Improves co-ordination and gives a good cardio-workouts.
  • Wii Sports (Wii Play) - Players use the specialized controllers to play virtual versions of some favorite sports including boxing, bowling, baseball and tennis.

Classic Games

If you've got really little ones or a mismatched age group, have them try to beat their best rather than the other players.

  • Simon Says - Make sure everyone gets a turn and avoid commands like "run".
  • Follow the Leader - Make sure everyone gets a turn and avoid running, jumping, etc. Try some walking like different animals or jumping jacks to get the blood pumping.

Activities

Try some of these classic activities.

  • Stretching - Teach kids the proper way to stretch before excersize.
  • Simple Excersizes - Jumping jacks, modified sit-ups, modified push-ups, step-aerobics, lunges, and running in place can all be done in a small area. Just make sure little ones are using proper body-mechanics.
  • Dancing - Either pop in an instructional video or crank up the LazyTown Soundtrack and let the kids freestyle. Older kids may enjoy creating a dance and then performing it later to show their friends or parents.   • Sports Machine - Use our E-Version or create your own. Fill a bag or hat with slips of paper with fun excersizes on them. Pull one out and complete the activity. Then, choose another (and another and another...)
  • Juggling - You will need 3 pieces of chiffon or other floaty material. The slow falling speed helps even the least co-ordinated get the and of this. Click here for good scarf juggling tutorial
